Hot Tenting

Hot tenting is an ancient method used to keep your tent warm through use of a heat source.

In recent days we use tent stoves such as this Gstove.

Market Research

Tent stoves can be anywhere from 100$ - 400$

Rocket Stove

A rocket stove is a small efficient biomass burner.

It is designed to take in small wood, inject air through the bottom causing it to draft high heat.

Market Research

Anywhere from around 50$ to 400$

Heat Transfer

Convection - transferring heat through fluid or air. Heat revolves hot and cold air

Conduction - When heat is transferred to a solid object, retains the heat energy and spreads through the object

Radiation - When a heat source or object throws/disperses the heat energy of itself.

Proper ventilation

Fire containment

Smoke inhalation

Carbon monoxide

Size is not convenient for long hike-ins

Pain Points

How Might We allow backpackers to pack a lightweight tent stove as opposed to a large tent set up that is highly cumbersome?

Stove Ideation

In this multi-product project, my first area of exploration was the compact tent stove trying to figure out the best heat delivery system, most efficient airflow and storage

Tarp Ideation

The second part of this project is the tent design, or more precisely the tarp composition and folding technique

Final Ideation

Here is the culmination of the ideas brought together
